Morrison Construction Building Central has raised £10,950 for the Macmillan Cancer Support, which aims to help people and their loved ones living with cancer.
The money was raised through the business’ hill-walking group ‘The Munro Baggers’, before embarking on the ‘Mighty Hike’ challenge. The hike led the group along the Rob Roy Way trail and through the Trossachs National Park, covering a total of 26 miles.
The Munro Baggers, organised by Project Director Martin Maclennan, initially had a target of £4,500 across the 18 members, but this was more than doubled in the lead-up to the hike.
The money was raised by families, friends, and colleagues of the group, with support from the business unit’s supply chain with sponsorships and branding.
The group has now grown to 38 members, and have their sights set on a larger donation over the next year.
Martin commented: “This is a great charity for our business unit to support as sadly many people are affected by cancer in some way through family, friends and colleagues.
“Our efforts have been greatly received by Macmillan Cancer Support and the hiking group has been a great way for us to experience the benefits of improved fitness and mental health through our participation. The only downside is the blisters!”
