Morrison Construction is progressing work on a new Mountain Bike Innovation Centre and Trail Lab, a pioneering facility that will support innovation, research and development across the mountain biking and wider cycling sector.
The project is being delivered for South of Scotland Enterprise, with support from Scottish Borders Council and Edinburgh Napier University, and will provide a dedicated space for Scottish, UK and international businesses, researchers to develop, test and showcase new products and services in the heart of one of the UK’s leading mountain biking destinations in Innerleithen.
Once complete, the facility will include bike engineering and workshop spaces, brand experience units, event space, offices, meeting rooms and dedicated teaching areas.
The project continues to make strong progress, with Morrison Construction completing groundworks and drainage works. The steel frame is now being erected, providing the first look at the final design and shape of the new building.

The Mountain Bike Innovation Centre is supported by £15.5m of UK Government funding through the Borderlands Inclusive Growth Deal and is expected to open in July 2027, coinciding with the arrival of the Tour de France in the Scottish Borders.
