Morrison Construction has been appointed by Hub North, on behalf of Aberdeen Council, to deliver the Castlegate public realm works.
Main construction activity on the £11.5m scheme started in March, with the project set to transform the historic Castlegate area of the city into a welcoming civic space for residents and visitors.
The works will enhance the public environment in the city centre by improving pedestrian areas, introducing new landscaping and seating, and creating a high-quality space that supports the wider regeneration of Aberdeen.
The project builds on the team’s work on the Aberdeen Union Street Central Streetscape scheme, strengthening the business’s growing infrastructure activity in the north east of Scotland.
Ross Glendinning, Operations Director for Galliford Try, which Morrison Construction is part of, said: “This project marks an important milestone for our Infrastructure business, working with partners in the region to improve the public realm for local people. We look forward to working with Hub North and Aberdeen Council to deliver this new space for the local community.”
