Morrison Construction and Hub South East’s outstanding track records in educational projects have once again been demonstrated, with five wins at the prestigious Learning Places Scotland Awards.

Beatlie Campus, delivered for West Lothian Council by Hub South East, with Morrison Construction Building Central, was star of the show, claiming both Project of the Year - Inclusive Design, and Pupil/Student Experience, having previously scooped prizes at the Scottish Design Awards and Education Estates Awards.

The campus was created for children and young people aged three to 18 with severe, complex and profound medical needs, featuring purpose-built facilities including a sensory garden, hydrotherapy pool and NHS Child Development Centre.

The National Manufacturing Institute Scotland (NMIS), built for University of Strathclyde by Morrison Construction, was awarded Project of the Year - Universities, totalling an incredible 19 major award for the flagship scheme.

NMIS is a 11,500 sqm facility designed with sustainability at its core, featuring operationally carbon-neutral systems, a rooftop solar farm, and rainwater harvesting. The building houses the NMIS Manufacturing Skills Academy, a fully connected digital factory, and a publicly accessible collaboration hub, creating a hub for innovation and education.

Wallyford Learning Campus, also delivered for East Lothian Council by Hub South East with Morrison Construction, received recognition, earning a Highly Commended accolade in its category for Inspiring Learning Spaces. Morrison Construction was Highly Commended in the Contractor of the Year category.

David Ewing, Managing Director for Morrison Construction Building Central, said: "We are thrilled to see Beatlie School Campus and NMIS recognised as Projects of the Year, along with the acknowledgment of Beatlie for its student experience. These awards are a testament to the hard work and dedication of our teams and partners, and we are proud to contribute to the advancement of education across Scotland.”

Both Beatlie and Wallyford also won commendations in the Education category at the Glasgow Institute of Architects (GIA) Awards, which celebrate the very best architecture being produced within the GIA Chapter or by GIA Chapter Members.

Paul McGirk, Hub South East’s Chief Executive added: "We’re delighted with the recognition for Beatlie School Campus and Wallyford Learning Campus – both demonstrating true partnership working, innovative design, quality construction and ultimately positive outcomes for young people.”
