East Calder Primary School shortlisted for Project of the Year

Morrison Construction Building Central’s East Calder Primary School project has been shortlisted for Project of the Year – Schools and Inspiring Learning Spaces at this year’s Education Estate Awards for showing excellence in design, construction and impact.  


East Calder Primary School, built in partnership with West Lothian Council and Hub South East, was funded through the Scottish Futures Trust’s Learning Estate Investment Programme (LEIP).

The £18.3m school designed by architects NORR, features a distinctive triangular-shaped building designed to maximise energy efficiency and enhance educational connectivity for future students throughout its modern learning spaces.

East Calder Primary school was also named Primary School Project of the Year at the Education Property Awards which recognise innovative projects, organisations and individuals in the education property arena. The project has also been shortlisted Project of the Year (Schools) and Inspiring Learning Spaces at this year’s Learning Places Scotland Awards.

Commenting on the nominations, David Ewing, Managing Director of Morrison Construction Building Central, said: “We're delighted that East Calder Primary School has been recognised with this achievement. We’re looking forward to celebrating the success of the project at the ceremony in October."

Earlier this year Galliford Try was shortlisted for Contractor of the Year at the Education Estates Awards. This nomination follows the Group’s 2023 win in the same category reflecting the Group’s continued success in delivering outstanding outcomes across its education project portfolio.

The winners will be announced in Manchester on 14 October.
