Multiple business units across Galliford Try are working together to deliver the new £11m extension to the award-winning West Calder High School for West Lothian Council.
The new extension, on schedule to complete later in the year, will see the school roll rise to accommodate the increasing number of pupils and will allow the client to provide enhanced STEAM (Science. Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) learning, primarily through the provision of two multi-purpose collaborative learning spaces.
The original project was constructed under and is operated as a revenue-funded DBFM (Design, Build, Finance and Maintain) project, so the new extension is being carried out as a High Value Change to the original contract and as such sees a unique collaboration across a number of Galliford Try businesses.
The project is being delivered by Hub South East, West Lothian Council’s development partner, with Morrison Construction Building Central appointed as the main contractor and Galliford Try Facilities Management continuing to provide FM services.
Galliford Try Investments Consultancy Services (GTICS) is also involved, providing construction FM and financial management services demonstrating continuing growth and expertise in this area.
Phil Harris, Managing Director of Galliford Try Investments said: “A key strength of Galliford Try and Morrison Construction is the variety of skills we have in our teams across the Group. Working together Galliford Try can provide our clients with professional, high-quality and seamless services from contracts and project development through construction and into operation.
“The West Calder High School extension is an excellent example of this partnership working in action and we look forward to the project’s successful delivery.”
