A key element of the selection process for this framework was being able to work collaboratively and to improve educational outcomes through high quality, value for money design solutions.
Although the framework has not been in place for long, Morrison Construction has already achieved its first appointment − the £8 million replacement of St Dominic's Primary School in Airdrie.
When St Dominic's burnt down in 2015, the new framework meant the council could organise its replacement using a fast and efficient fast track mini-tender exercise. Drawing on our wide schools experience across Scotland, our team was able to deliver a vision for a state of the art replacement school in just four weeks.
The new school will accommodate a 50-space nursery as well as 250 school pupils. It will be one of the most sustainable schools in North Lanarkshire, targeting BREEAM ‘Excellent’ and EPC A ratings. The new facilities will include flexible break out spaces for all classrooms, modern sports and drama spaces, and a large dining / social space which will form the heart of the new school. The project is due for completion in late 2018.
