Marchbank Water Treatment Works

Morrison Construction has successfully delivered the design and construction of the extension and upgrade of Marchbank Water Treatment Works. Marchbank is one of three major water treatment works supplying water to Edinburgh and the surrounding area.
The main elements of the project are new Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) units which are housed in a 60m x 20m RC/steel framed building, together with 2.3km of new 100mm diameter sludge transfer main and pumping station.
Included as part of the upgrade to the treatment works are new lime and ammonium sulphate dozing systems; modifications to the supernatant return system; media replacement to eight rapid gravity filters; and upgrading and modification to the plant’s software systems.
