Inverness Harbour

This project involved the construction of an extension to Inverness Harbour at the mouth of the River Ness to provide new berthing, a marina, and reclaimed ground for development.
The works comprised the construction of a 200m long steel sheet pile wall and dredged berth on the south bank of the River Ness to form a new quay with associated hard-standing area.
Excavations within the river and foreshore areas were carried out to construct the marina area which was topped off by an in-situ concrete perimeter wall. Selected excavated material was placed as engineering fill to reclaim part of the existing foreshore and form extended harbour facilities complete with infrastructure provision.
This material was also used to form a perimeter embankment to the Moray Firth, protected by rip rap formed in rock armouring imported from a local source.
