This project involved the construction of a state-of-the-art building to showcase the Highland region's archives and accommodate the Highland Council’s registration service.
The 3,866 sqm purpose-built centre in Inverness also incorporates an archive conservation unit, a dedicated family history centre and modern office accommodation.
The archive centre has secure archive storage accommodation provided in repositories which are environmentally controlled to give the correct conditions for the storage of parchment and paper, as well as records in other formats. Searchroom facilities for public access to the archives is also provided at the centre including accommodation for school and community groups.
