Scottish Gas Networks

Client: Scottish and Southern Energy
Value: £4.7 million
Location: Newbridge

This project delivered a new headquarters building at Newbridge, Midlothian for Scotland Gas Networks, a subsidiary of Scottish and Southern Energy.

The 2,240 sqm office premises replaced the company’s neighbouring administrative building, providing high specification office space for 250 staff and additional room for expansion.

The design and build contract also included a single-storey 450 sqm warehouse facility, storage yard and car parking for 50 vehicles. The scope of work was subsequently increased to include the fit-out with all elements completed on programme.

Interestingly the project showcases latest thinking in sustainability combined with state-of-the-art features including an energy efficient ground source heat pump system. High levels of insulation, air-tightness and advanced building services with a heat recovery system, add to the development’s green credentials.
