This £69 million project is being delivered through Hub South East Scotland and is the largest Hub deal to be signed to date in the country.

The programme of works will see a modern and purpose-built hospital developed on the existing Roodlands site in Haddington, helping improve the quality of care for local people. The new facilities will see a return of some services to East Lothian, with an increase of 60 percent of inpatient beds. Having been shaped with the help of patients, this project will allow NHS staff to continue to provide safe, effective healthcare and rehabilitation.

Philip Galbraith, Project Director for Morrison Construction, said: "We are pleased to be commencing on this significant health project for Hub South East Scotland and NHS Lothian. We look forward to successfully delivering this project for our client and wider stakeholders, and in turn provide the local community with an enhanced built environment and improved facilities."

The construction work is anticipated to be complete by 2019.
