Galashiels Transport Interchange 'meet the buyer' opportunity for Borders contractors and suppliers

Contractors and suppliers across the Borders are being given the chance to meet Morrison Construction - the Tier 1 contractor appointed by Hub South East Scotland for the Galashiels Transport Interchange.

Morrison Construction is hosting the meet the buyer event in the Burgh Chambers, Galashiels, on Wednesday 19 March, 11am to 7pm.

The drop-in session will give local firms the opportunity to meet the people in charge of awarding contracts to suppliers in relation to delivery of the £5.2m Transport Interchange. There will be no fixed presentation, with attendees free to come at any time.

A wide range of suppliers are required for the Transport Interchange, from bricklayers, electricians and joiners, to security guards, steel erectors and plasterers.

Scottish Borders Council's Executive Member for Economic Development, Councillor Stuart Bell, said: "The Council is committed to supporting local communities across the Borders throughout the construction and delivery of the Transport Interchange.

"The project is integral to the Council's long-term aim of improving the environment of Galashiels town centre, and will promote better connections between all means of sustainable transport.

"I would encourage any local firms to attend the supplier event and find out more about getting involved in the Galashiels Transport Interchange project."
