To develop our people’s skills and provide a framework for management development, we have a "stepping stones" strategy that begins at trainee level and moves through six stages to provide a range of learning and development opportunities.

The Galliford Try Group Academy offers enthusiastic and talented individuals employment opportunities and develops their potential through a structured and focused training programme. We support a range of construction related study programmes, such as BTEC and HNCs, on a day-release or block-release basis.

The Academy provides support in a number of ways depending on an employee's role:

Trainees – structured programmes to ensure an in-depth understanding of the chosen subject matter together with a broad knowledge of their business unit.

Graduates – development programmes approved by professional institutions provide experiential knowledge and understanding, leading to membership of these institutions.

Employees Group-wide – a number of e-learning courses to equip employees in the fields of personal skills and development, people management and service and project operations.

Managers/leaders – individually tailored leadership programmes based on a combination of courses and modules to enhance leadership capability.

Our aim is to provide challenging training programmes that will support the development of business skills and provide opportunities to tackle new activities with the guidance and support of experienced team members and mentors.

In addition to academic studies and the construction specific skills training that we provide, the Academy offers a wide range of programmes to support continued growth and progression.

We encourage employees to be directly involved in shaping their career, offering a broad range of learning opportunities designed to improve their technical skills as well as other areas such as interpersonal, problem-solving and decision-making.
